Why is important a company secretary service in Singapore?
According to the Singapore Companies Act, the corporate secretary is an appointed official of the company. According to section 171, 1AA of the Companies Act, every company must appoint a corporate secretary within six months of incorporation. The corporate secretary must be a Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident, as well as a Singapore Employment or Dependent Pass Holder. A corporation secretary cannot be assigned to a lone director or shareholder. If the firm has more than one director, a local resident company director can only be nominated as corporate secretary. In the case of a sole proprietorship or a limited liability partnership (LLP), a corporate secretary is not necessary.
